On-Grid System(Recommended for Most Homes)

  • Connected to the electricity grid

  • Net metering enabled

  • Lower cost

  • Eligible for government subsidy

  • No Battery backup, hence no battery replacement cost

Off-Grid System

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much roof area is required for a 3kW solar system?

pproximately 250–300 sq ft shadow-free area is required.

Eligible residential consumers can receive central subsidy of max. Rs.78,000 for a 3KW or larger solar system under PM Surya Ghar scheme, besides this, U.P State government is also providing an additional subsidy benefit of max. Rs.30,000 for a 3KW & larger residential solar system.

Standard on-grid systems shut off during outage; hybrid systems can provide backup.

It typically takes 2–3 days after all the approvals.

It depends on the solar system size and its pricing. Generally speaking, it varies from 3–5 years for a residential rooftop solar  system depending on consumption.

Net Metering is a system that allows the residential rooftop solar owners, credit for the extra power that they add to the government grid. When solar panels produce extra power or the consumption of the homeowner is low during the daytime, then the extra power is sent to the grid and this excess power is taken back from the grid,  when the solar plant is not functioning i.e during night. The customers are charged for the net units consumed, measured by the bi-directional electricity meters called net meters.

Yes, net metering is available, subject to DISCOM approval.

The solar plants do not require heavy maintenance, but it is a good practice to clean the solar panels 1-2 times in a month. The solar panels should be cleaned during the early morning or late evening hours, when no sun rays are incident on the solar panels, hence they are not producing any power. The solar panels can be cleaned with clean water and then wiped properly with a soft cloth or nylon brush. Never use hard brushes and detergent powder to clean the panels
